Allergy Policy

Last updated: 29 August 2026

Food Library takes food allergens seriously. This policy explains how allergen information is displayed on our platform, what customers should do before ordering, and how vendors are expected to keep that information accurate.

1. Allergen information on our platform

Vendors are responsible for marking the major allergens present in each menu item using the standard allergen fields provided in their dashboard. These are shown to customers on the menu page and in the basket so you can make an informed choice before checkout.

Where provided, vendors can also add extra allergen notes or “may contain” warnings to give more detail about cross-contamination risks.

2. Our role

Food Library provides the technology that displays this information. We do not prepare, package or handle food ourselves. The vendor who receives your order is responsible for the accuracy of the allergen details they publish and for preparing your food safely.

3. If you have an allergy or intolerance

  • Read the allergen labels shown on each menu item carefully.
  • Use the order notes to tell the vendor about any allergy, intolerance or dietary requirement.
  • If you are unsure whether an item is safe for you, contact the vendor directly before ordering.
  • Do not rely on menu descriptions alone. Always check the allergen markers and any “may contain” notes.

4. Cross-contamination

Many of our vendors operate from shared or small kitchen spaces. Even when an item does not list a particular allergen as an ingredient, there may still be a risk of cross-contamination. If you have a severe allergy, please contact the vendor directly to discuss their kitchen practices before placing an order.

5. Reporting an issue

If you receive an item that does not match the allergen information shown, or if you have concerns about allergen safety, contact the vendor first. You can also report the issue to Food Library through your order history or by emailing wearefoodlibrary@gmail.com.

6. Updates to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the platform or food information regulations. The latest version will always be available at this page.
